BIOTECHNOLOGY PROCESS SERVICES
Renewable Fuel Volume Requirements

The ability to obtain fuels and chemicals from biological material is a rapidly expanding industry, fully supported by recent Department of Energy initiatives. The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 set a mandatory Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS1) requiring liquid fuel producers to utilize 36 billion gallons of biofuel annually by 2022.  A revision to this standard was recently proposed as the RFS2, requiring not only cellulosic biofuel, but biodiesel and advanced biofuel.  Development and implementation of processes for producing and utilizing biofuels and biochemicals are critical activities needed to meet future national energy and chemical supply needs.  Increasing competition for limited fossil fuel resources for developing economies ensures that international economies will utilize technologies that are capable of producing fuels and commodities from renewable resources.

What we offer:

Hazen has direct experience developing processes to generate liquid fuels through hydrolysis, enzymatic biotransformation, fermentation, transesterification, gasification, and pyrolysis. Our staff has provided process development services to our industrial clients since 1961, and we bring our decades of experience to biofuels, evaluating feedstock for biofuel processes, developing new processes for biomass conversion, and improving known technologies. Our biotechnology and energy process services include complete feedstock and fuels characterization , biorefining , laboratory and pilot plant services.
